Harold Douglas "Paddy" O’Rourke passed away peacefully at home on November 20th, 2020, with his wife by his side. He was born April 6th, 1936 in Halifax to the late Harold & Lillian (Connors) O’Rourke. Harold joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1953 at 17 years old where he served as an Instrument Electrical Technician working on numerous aircraft and the BOMARC missile program. He and his family lived on many military bases across Canada and he proudly served his country for 25 years. An avid sportsman, Paddy was an accomplished hockey and softball player as well as a hockey coach and referee. After retiring from the military, Paddy and family settled in Kentville, Nova Scotia where he managed Brookfield Foods in Coldbrook. He went on to coach the Valley Wildcats Jr. A, the Windsor Royals Jr. A of the now Maritime Hockey League, and the Bridgetown Hawks of the former Nova Scotia Senior Hockey League. Harold married the love of his life Hattie (Pottie) in 1957. They went on to have four wonderful children who were the pride of Harold’s life. Harold was predeceased by his parents, brother Patrick, four sisters and his stepmother Gladys. He is survived by his loving wife Hattie; children Kevin (Kim) of Petawawa ON, Brian (Lori) of Ottawa ON, Darren (Kathy) of Centreville and Heather (Kevin) Crowell of Centre Village NB; grandchildren Michael, Katelyn, Kelly, Erin, Patrick, Ryan, Kelsey and five great-grandchildren; as well as his stepsister Maureen Henneberry, two stepbrothers Michael and Dennis and sister-in-law Joyce & family. The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Hergett, the VON and Valley Regional Hospital for all their help. As well as a special thank you to Krista Sampson of Care Force for all her exceptional care and help over the years.  Cremation has taken place; arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home in Kentville, NS. A small family service will take place on Tuesday, November 24. Harold will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Valley Regional Hospital or St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville.
