Peter Cornelius Dekker

Peter Cornelius Dekker – age 77, of Kentville, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Born in Summerside, PE, he was a son of the late Martin and Johanna "Annie" (Pauptit) Dekker. Peter was a graduate of Nova Scotia Agricultural College and Macdonald College. He went on to become a Farm Management Specialist for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture from where he retired. Following retirement, Peter and his wife Vicky travelled extensively. He was involved in the local Scouting Movement and was a member of the North Mountain Chorus. He was a founding member of Orchard Valley United Church, a member of the choir and sat on several boards and committees. He enjoyed cross country skiing, swimming, biking, woodworking and in their younger years, watching his sons play hockey and soccer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Victoria "Vicky" (Brooks); sons, Kenneth (Allison), Toronto, ON; Steven (Audrey), Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Colin, Amelia and Emily; sisters, Marie MacDonald; Betty (Kenneth) Mann; brother, Adrian; in-laws, Vera Dekker, Nancy and Barry Lesser, Ted and Judy Brooks, Jeffrey Brooks and Barbara Tolloczko, Margaret and Pierre Legault, Jennifer Brooks; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Kathleen Mugridge, brother, John and sister-in-law, Isabel. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A private funeral service will be held in the Orchard Valley United Church, New Minas, Reverend Don Sellsted officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks will be required, and social distancing will be observed.
