Hartley Boyd MacLean
Hartley Boyd MacLean – 73, of Eastern Passage, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Lower Sackville, he was the son of the late Boyd and Evelyn (Eisenhauer) MacLean. As a young boy, he loved to go to the stables at the Sackville Downs Racetrack, with his knack for painting he did some of the helmets for a number of the jockeys. He attended Acadia School then Sidney Stephen High School. He went on to attend the College of Art in Halifax; he had a vision for unique projects and an eye for detail. He later worked as a chef in food services and was fortunate to travel throughout Canada and to various countries for work. Through all of his travels he always considered Nova Scotia the best place to live. He had a great appreciation for the people and sites of Nova Scotia. He is survived by his sister, Lynne (George) Spicer, Harbourville; nephew, Shawn (Barb) Spicer; great niece and nephew, Abby and Owen; and niece, Andrea (Joel) Dionne; great nephew and niece Jonathan and Jessica; and many cousins. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service by request. A celebration of Hartley’s life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, The War Amps, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
