Margaret A. MacNaughton

Margaret A. MacNaughton – formerly of Halifax, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021 in her room at Shannex – Blomidon Court, where she had been a resident since 2014. Born in Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Jane (Samson) Leithead. Her family were dairy farmers and active in a close rural community. Margaret attended Pictou Academy and trained for secretarial work. She met her late husband, Douglas P. MacNaughton (also of Pictou County) while working in Halifax. Eventually Doug set up a private accounting office in downtown Dartmouth with Margaret as his secretary and office manager. She was an active member of St. John’s United Church, Halifax and later attended St. Andrew’s United Church, Wolfville. She was an active supporter of the Dartmouth Rotary Club and various amateur music associations. Margaret main occupation has foremost been the care and support of her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Janet MacNaughton (Sheldon Pothier), Wolfville; Rob (Ann) MacNaughton, Hingham, Massachusetts and Andrew (Takako), Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Lillian Pothier, Matthew Pothier, Andrea MacNaughton and Isabella MacNaughton; a sister, Betty (Garth) Jenkins, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. In keeping with COVID-19 pandemic regulations, masks must be worn and physical distancing will be required. A private funeral service will be held and a video webcast of the service will be available at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
