Joan Marie Atwell
It is with broken hearts that the family of Joan Marie Atwell, 72, of Kentville, announces her peaceful passing, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Born in Kentville, Joan was the oldest child of Beatrice (Wallace) Buckley, Kentville and the late Rupert Buckley. Joan retired from Weavvex after 42 years. Some of Joan’s favorite memories were Sunday dinners with family and her trips to Ontario with her mother. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friend Clara. Joan was a devoted mother to six children who she reminded daily of her love for them. Joan is survived by her mother, Beatrice Buckley, Kentville; sons, Mike, Aylesford; Tim, Kentville; Larry Jr., Wolfville; daughters, Carol (Bill) Keddy, Ont.; Sheri, Kentville; Angela (Jeff) Hebb, Coldbrook; grandchildren, Amanda, Billy, Casandra, Michael, Felicia, Jayden, Serenity, Joshy, Emma and Zoë; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Brian) Keddy, Cambridge, Barb (Ron) Francis, Sherbrooke Lake; brothers, Dave (Dora) Buckley, Halifax; Kenny, Kentville; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Larry; father, Rupert Buckley; brother, Brian Buckley; sister, Christine (Buckley) Hudson and granddaughter, Olivia Atwell. The family would like to thank Dr. Matt Targett and Dr. Musgrave for their care. The family would also like to thank Dr. Ann Gordon and the ICU team at the Valley Regional Hospital, with a special thank you to RN Sidney for her exceptional care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A private funeral service will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Interment will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A video webcast of the service will be available at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
