Margaret Ellen Gourley

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Margaret Ellen Gourley at QEII-Halifax Infirmary on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Born in Kentville on November 14, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Doris (Fulton) Gourley of Kentville, NS. Marg’s career started working with children at the Verge House at the NS Hospital. She later entered nursing, graduating in 1983 from the VG Hospital, working until retirement in 2013. Marg was a 10-year volunteer with Special Olympics in Metro Halifax, and sponsored overseas children. Marg had a special place in her heart for her nephews, nieces and friends. She is survived by siblings, Carolyn (Robert) Lockhart, Sussex, NB; Bill (Jane) Gourley, Hampshire, PEI; Jean Douglas, Caledonia; Pat Gourley, Kentville; Peter (Sandra) Gourley, Kentville; Paul (Debbie) Gourley, Pereau; Suzanne Gourley, Port Williams; nephews and nieces, Robb Lockhart; Brad (Shelly) Lockhart; Jason (Sasha) Gourley; Jennifer (Matt) Carter; John Douglas; Jeff (Dominique) Douglas; Melissa Gourley; Emily (Aaron) Campbell; Katherine Gourley; Patrick (Lanaya) Gourley; Brennan Gourley; Amanda Gaul; Scott Gaul; Spencer Lockhart; Katelyn Lockhart; and special friends, Robin Pope; Connie and Stephen McPhee. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
