William John "Billy" Doucet

William John Doucet – 85, of Canning, passed away on February 20, 2021 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He would have been 86 on March 3, 2021. Born in Tompkins, NL, he was a son of the late Walter and Gertrude (MacNeil) Doucette. Billy was no stranger to hard work and helping others. He had a passion for woodworking and birdwatching. He also had a love of boxing, scuffing it up on the dance floor and telling a good story. Billy is survived by his wife, Ann Marie (Ryan); son, Greg Doucet; siblings, Marie, Ada, Walter Jr., and Martha. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Lorraine and Genevieve. The family would like to express their gratitude to his caretakers and doctors for the kindness and compassion shown to William. Cremation has taken place and his remains will be returned to the area where he grew up. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
