Jean Delores Burgess

Jean Delores Burgess – 86, of Kentville, passed away following cardiac complications on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre – Halifax Infirmary, with family close by. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Violet (Little) Lockhart and John Robert Lockhart. 

Jean was well-known from selling AVON, working at the Red and White and Biway in New Minas and from the Bingo halls, where she would do a lot of winning. Jean was so proud, independent and free spirited, saying whatever came to mind. Jean lived life to the fullest, loved to travel, enjoyed baking, shopping and playing cards with her dear friends, Gwen, Coleen and Sheila. She was most fond of her great granddaughter, Gracelyn, who shared the same fondness of her. Her strong will and wit stayed until the end and will forever be missed.  

She is survived by her son, Michael (Susan), Coldbrook, and their children, Sarah (Liz), Greenwood; Evan and Stacy; and her other son, Mark (Rose), New Minas and his children, Dillon (Kyla), Winnipeg, MB; Brock, Kelowna, BC; and Adee, New Minas. She is also survived by her sisters, Ella Ogden, Sylvester; Marie (Art) Jenkins, Melmerby Beach; brother, Gerald (Jean), Scotch Hill; and sister-in-law, Louise, Abbottsford, BC. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bev Burgess (1996); brothers, Bud (Audrey), Ralph (Mary) and Bill; sister, Claudia (Jack) Guay; and brother-in-law, Doug Ogden.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service by her request. Donations in memory may be made to your local SPCA.
