David "Allen" Gates

It is with great sadness the family of David "Allen" Gates, age 77, of Aylesford East, announce his passing on Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Clifford and Helen (Thomas) Gates. Allen worked at the MW Graves Ltd. Plant in Berwick and later as Supervisor of Receiving and Shipping at Great Valley Juices in Kentville. He enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, bird watching and camping. In his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He is survived by his sons, Gary and David, and their mother, Sandra; and granddaughters, Grace and Madalyn. He will be missed by family and friends, including special friend of many years, Bertha. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in infancy, Gary; stepfather, Fred Sanford; and stepbrother, Michael Sanford. Cremation has taken place. Services will take place at a later date to be announced. Donations in memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or charity of one’s choice.
