Garry Thomas MacNutt

1948-2021

Garry Thomas MacNutt

MacNutt, Garry Thomas - age 72, of Kentville, passed away on July 3, 2021, at Valley Hospice after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. Born in Kentville, he was the son of the late Everett and Evelyn (Langille) MacNutt of Pereau.

Garry was a millwright and leading maintenance journeyman at Nova Scotia Power. After 32 years with NSP, he retired and accepted the position of planner/scheduler with Shell at their petrochemical facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta where he enjoyed a challenging 6-year second career. Garry and Pat loved to travel, so the move to Alberta enabled them to visit many places on their Bucket List—Hawaii, Jamaica, San Francisco, Las Vegas—Bette Midler and Cher concerts were highlights—as well as a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. Returning to Nova Scotia, they then headed east and enjoyed London, Paris, Rome, Ireland and Egypt.

Garry enjoyed golf, home renovations, and being active, but most of all he enjoyed being a father and grandfather—his family was of first importance to him. He was a wonderful husband and a good man.

Garry is survived by his wife, Pat (Blair); son, Michael (Lenore), Halifax; granddaughters, Grace and Ava; brothers, Albert (Paulette), Centreville; Wayne (Denny), Hubley; Nick (Elaine), Pereau; sister, Marg Barkhouse (Steve), Melanson; many nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Lynne.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, 10 July, at 3:30 pm in Habitant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Valley Hospice in Kentville would be very much appreciated. A special thank you to Dr. Jenna MacNeil and Dr. Barb Ross and the incredible Palliative Care team at the Hospice. We are truly blessed to have such caring and compassionate people in this much needed facility.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Online condolences and inquiries may be directed to: www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com

The moving finger writes, and having writ, moves on;
Nor all thy piety nor wit, shall lure it back to cancel half a line
Nor all thy tears wash out a word of it.
