Harriett Stewart Thorpe
Harriett Stewart Thorpe – age 86, of Pereaux, NS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2021, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Canning, on December 23, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Alice (Rathburn) Greene. Harriett attended Mack Business College and went on to work for the Federal Research Station and other local agricultural businesses as a secretary for many years. She and her beloved husband, Emerson, served faithfully together at the Pereaux Baptist Church for many years in many roles from Sunday School to administrative, always willing to help where needed. She was a long time member of the Lola B. Eaton Auxiliary, and the Pereaux Baptist Church Choir. Her joy in life was certainly her family, church family and extended community. She will be remembered in love and fondness by all. She is survived by her sister, Marion (Murray) Power, New Minas; nephew, David (Mary Lou) Power, Pereaux; nephew Brian (Sharon) Power, Kentville; nephew, Kenneth Power, New Minas; great nieces, Alison (Fenwick) Jeffrey, Quispamsis, NB; Katherine (Chris) Power, Moncton NB; Andrea (Troy) Power, Halifax; great nephew, Jason (Emily) Power, Bedford; great great nephew and niece William and Violet Jeffrey, Quispamsis, NB and many other special relatives. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Emerson Thorpe. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A private funeral service will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Interment will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory can be made to the Pereaux Baptist Church General Fund, the VON Annapolis Valley or a charity of your choosing. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Reverend Doctor Mark Parent, Valley Regional Hospital, and the VON Annapolis Valley. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
