Joan Margaret Woodland

Joan Margaret Woodland – age 78, of Kentville, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at home. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Herb and Bessie (Attwater) Henderson. Joan was a loving wife, proud mother, grandmother and friend. Throughout her life she was a caregiver, having fostered and provided care for both the elderly and the young in the community. Joan was also a detailed bookkeeper, providing services for small businesses and auction houses throughout Nova Scotia. In later years, she became somewhat of a 'second mother' to those who came to know her well. Many fond memories were made with family and friends over games of cards, good food and drink. "If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault". Gardening, quilting, and conversing with a cup of tea were among her other favourite things. She is survived by daughter, Tammy Woodland, Kentville; sons, Troy (Mary) Woodland, Black River, Rick Woodland, Annapolis Royal and Darcy Woodland (Shelley), Winnipeg MN; granddaughter, Amber (Cyle) Bruce, Bear River; sisters, Wanda (Dennis) Peterson, Lindsay, ON and Carole Byford, Norwood, ON. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; and sister, Sandra Patterson. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
