Momma’s Old Oak Tree

My Daddy and Me still live in the family home I grew up in right by an

old tree,

the old tree where it once stood, was an old oak tree.

That was Momma’s tree. That was My tree, the tree I climbed, the tree

I fell from and bruised my knee.

That was Momma’s tree. The tree she hung her windchimes and

suncatchers from, that old oak tree.

The old oak tree where once was full of birds and leaves and memories

grew older as I grew up.

My old oak tree turned fragile as did my Momma the older they

became. That old oak tree, my Momma became to worry about and

what might be.

As you see, my favorite tree stood right by the family home. Where

once my Momma worried it might come crashing through that old

family home.

The old oak tree stands no more as it was too old and fragile and had to

be cut free.

As for Momma, she was as fragile as that old oak tree…

Now my Momma is an Angel and and watches over me and doesn’t worry

about that old Oak tree.
