Charlotte Eva (Lockhart) Anderson

1933-2021

Charlotte Eva (Lockhart) Anderson

Charlotte Eva (Lockhart) Anderson – 88, of Melanson, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at home surrounded by family. Born June 27, 1933 in New Minas, she was a daughter of the late Spurgeon and Frances (Lynch) Lockhart. Charlotte was the heart of the family, and hers was a home filled with lively conversation and the laughter of children – the more the merrier. You were greeted with a warm welcome and the smell of freshly baked cookies, pies and goodies to share. Every birthday and holiday were celebrated together, gathered around the table with her famous homemade bread front and center. Whenever you needed her, she was there to listen and offer her support. When she wasn’t in her gardens, tending to her flowers and vegetables, Charlotte could often be found knitting or making beautiful quilts. Saturdays were Bean Night and many times followed by a game of cards between good friends where she was not afraid to go bingo for game just for the fun of it. Charlotte was always up for anything whether it be a shopping trip to the States with the girls (and Jake); travelling across Canada on the train with Bill; or a girl’s trip with Marie and Barb. Charlotte was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary and active in her community, volunteering at community suppers, card parties, ticket auctions, plant sales and many other local events. She was very involved in the Wallbrook Baptist Church, and her faith was important to her. Charlotte is survived by her devoted husband and very best friend of 68 years, William Anderson; and children: son, Brian (Jean), Bedford; daughter, Cathy (Rod) MacDonald, Gaspereau; son, David (Tracee), Melanson; son, Willard (Karen Rogers), Melanson; and daughter, Heather (David Campbell) Lewis, Lockhartville. Nanny will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jillian (Colin) Palmer, Megan (Jeffery) Keough, Ian MacDonald, Emma Anderson, Jake and Lauryn Lewis; and great-grandchildren, William and Owen Keough. Charlotte is survived by sister, Marie (Joe) Seward and brothers, Bradford and Robert. Charlotte is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Parsons, Marie (Charlton) Levy, Hope (Gerald) Atkinson; and many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was predeceased by brothers, Malcolm and Boyd (Gloria), sister, Marjorie Gaul, grandson, John Anderson and sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline (Allison) McDow; Doris (Raymond) Walker; Raymond Parsons; June (Don) Kennie. The family would like to give special thanks to the many wonderful caregivers who have taken such good care of Charlotte (Mom) over the years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 in the Gaspereau Cemetery, Gaspereau. A video webcast of the service will be available on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlotte may be made to the Gaspereau Cemetery (c/o 3003 Greenfield Road, Gaspereau, NS B4P 2R3) or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
