Gerrit "Gary" Faber

Gerrit "Gary" Faber, 82, Coldbrook, formerly of Brickton, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2021. Gary’s love for his children and grandchildren was unmistakable; never missing an opportunity to spend time with the ones that he loved. Gary was a hard worker who spent his life farming the land and caring for animals as the dairy herdsman at denHaan’s Farm. In his spare time, Gary was an active member of the Lions Club, and a friend to all who knew him.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 in the Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Pastor Joe Gosbee of Cambridge Baptist Church, officiating. Feel free to bring a chair.

Gary was born to Tryntje and Sjoerd Faber on January 3, 1939, in Friesland. He was the youngest of 11 children, sisters, Yetske Meijer, Akke Nuyen, Lolkje Bouma, Yantje Soeten, Anna Walsweer, Gerrie Dotinga; brothers, Wietse Faber, Wopke Faber, Pieke Faber, Cathrinus Faber. Gary moved to Nova Scotia in 1960 and married Barb (Wood) in June, 1965. They had three beloved children, Kristy (Bill Ahearn), Gerry (Terri Feoner) and Jacqueline (Dave Pashley), and was a proud Pop Pop of Ceilidh, Elliot, Jonah, Eric, and Ryan.

Donations in memory may be made to the North Mountain Animal Sanctuary. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our family and friends for their support during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
