Charles Edward MacKillop

Charles Edward MacKillop – age 72, of New Minas, born July 31, 1949, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton Nova Scotia, he was the adopted son of the late Hugh and Florence (MacInnes) MacKillop.

Charles was a loving husband, father, friend who was adored by his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He had been employed as a stationary engineer and worked in various locations throughout the Maritimes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting and golfing. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica. Charles was always quick to fix anything broken or make his own improvements, he had such an inventive and creative mind. Charles also had a great sense of humor, always leaving you laughing.

Charles is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Marilyn; his son, Robert (Rosa); his daughter, Melanie; his sister, Linda Cameron; his brother, John Struthers; his grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his adopted parents, he was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A video webcast of the funeral service will be available at that time. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full Vaccination Policy, proof of full vaccination will be required to attend visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White Family Funeral Home. His family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff, nurses, and caregivers at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville for their dedication, support, and kindness.
