Roger David Hamilton

Roger David Hamilton

It is with deep sadness our family shares that Roger passed away in the early hours on October 3, 2021. He left this world peacefully surrounded by his family at home. He is deeply loved by so many and his family shared each and every message that was passed along through friends. He also happily received many visitors over this past summer, who brought lots of joy. Roger lived each day with such enthusiasm, curiosity, and above all else a radiant kindness. He grew up in Halifax, with his two brothers and his parents, Gordon and Nancy. He was a passionate learner, which he carried throughout life, never shy to pick up a new hobby or skill (from coding apps to making the perfect sourdough). He also loved sports and games, playing hockey and football throughout his life; he was always finding a way to work a game into any situation, if you had five minutes to spare, he had a (sometimes invented on the spot) game to pass the time. With all of his passions and skills it was no surprise he excelled academically. Roger completed his Bachelors of Engineering and then went on to graduate from Queen’s Medical School in 1985. This same year, he married the love of his life, Wendy-Lee. Wendy was Roger’s best friend and partner for the rest of his life. They had three daughters together, Leah, Jenna, and Keltie. They raised their family together in Port Williams, his family and friends were the center of his life. He spent the majority of his professional career as a Family Doctor serving the Wolfville community. He cared deeply for his patients both as a physician and as a member of the community. Despite his many commitments in the community and at home, he never missed a soccer game or dance recital. He had an incredible knack for knowing exactly what to say to put a smile on your face no matter the circumstances. His incredible sense of humour and empathy are qualities that his family and friends appreciated and admired deeply. He is missed dearly by his family. His parents are the late Gordon and Nancy Hamilton; and brothers, Peter (Trish) and the late Michael (Leslie); his wife, Wendy-Lee; and his daughters, Leah (Alex), Jenna (Lucas), and Keltie and his nieces and nephews, Bronwyn, Joel, Heather, George, Amanda, Andrea, Charlotte, James, and Emily. There will be a visitation on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating.
