Hubert Irwin "Hugh" "Nick" Nickerson

1953-2021

Hubert Irwin "Hugh" "Nick" Nickerson

Hugh passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Liverpool on July 30, 1953, he was a son of the late Ronald "Nick" and Barbara (Irwin) Nickerson.

Hugh was a well known and respected figure in the insurance industry. Hugh "Nick" worked for over 30 years, eventually establishing his own brokerage firm. He was a mentor to many, preaching ethics and integrity above all else. After retirement, he owned and operated Honey Brook Farm and with his wife, Pam, started a successful organic blueberry operation. Later, Hugh fulfilled his lifelong dream when he purchased a camp in the Margaree Valley, became a licensed fishing guide and spent many precious hours on the river. To Nick, it was never about the catch but about the experience!

Nick leaves behind, his lifelong partner, Pam; brothers, Scott (Tammy), Kent (Julie); sisters-in-law, Pat (Bob Kidston), Barbara Baird, Sheila Baird (Luis); several nieces and nephews. A special mention to lifetime friends, Brad Meisner, Neil Emeneau; more recently, good friends Elmer and Martha Hart and his go-to buddy for everything that needed fixing, Kendall Hutchinson.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Margaree Salmon Association or the QEII Foundation (Dickson Centre). Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
