Gerald Arthur Bernard Hancock
1928-2021
Gerald Arthur Bernard Hancock – age 93, of Wolfville, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in the Valley Hospice, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Clarence "Cad" and Gertrude (Millett) Hancock.
Gerald's work history started at Cad Hancock & Son's Livery Stable in Wolfville. He delivered groceries, mail and he provided a taxi service with horse & wagon. Later he worked in the woods with horses to get trees to the lumber mill, drove truck for Canada Foods delivering produce and performed various jobs for J. B. MacPherson, Charles Isnor, Franklin Salzman and Perry Millett. However, most of his life he worked as a plumber/pipefitter for Western's Plumbing & Heating, Steen's Plumbing & Fiberglass Plant and H. B. Mitchells. He had many special interests throughout his life, starting with his love of horses. He enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and was the Anchorman for the Gaspereau Tug of War Team. He also had a passion for gardening, yardsale-ing, collecting antiques and talking about the old times with young and old.
He is survived by daughters, Glenda (Gary) Thompson, Musquodobit Harbour and Alana Hancock (Alfred Beaudin), Red Deer, Alberta; sons, Stanton (Pat), White Rock and Vance, Wolfville; daughter-in-law, Linda Hancock, New Minas; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Maxine (Murray); son, Barry; sister, Hazel, in infancy; brothers, Dr. Glen, Ronald, Chesley and Doug.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will take place in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. A video webcast of the service will be available at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full Vaccination Policy, proof of full vaccination will be required to attend visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White Family Funeral Home.
