Alan Howard "Al" Botham

1950-2021

Alan Howard "Al" Botham

It is with deep sadness that the family of Alan Howard "Al" Botham, 71, announce his passing in the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by family on October 19, 2021.  He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Lee (Mosher), who has been unwaveringly by his side during his long, hard fight over the years. He is also survived by his daughter, Kim; son, David (Jennifer); grandchildren, Lauryn, Emily, Kaitlin, Aveling, and Graeme; mother, Dorothy; siblings, Ronald (Faye) Gordon (Karen), and Ann (Bill). He was predeceased by his father, Harold and parents-in-law, Fenwick and Maisie Mosher. From the age of 15 Al had visions of joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a vision he fulfilled on February 2, 1972. Al was posted to Digby, and then subsequently to Bridgewater where he met Nancy. Al served in various postings in Nova Scotia prior to being promoted to Corporal in 1989 when he was transferred to Alberton, PEI.  He had a work ethic that was second to none. Al completed the remainder of his service in Nova Scotia until his retirement in 2005. Al loved to play all sports including golf, hockey, curling, baseball or anything that required sporting equipment and he excelled in all of them.   He enjoyed spending time in his workshop completing various projects and was meticulous in his designs and execution of everything he did, a trait he passed on to both of his children. He also loved to spend his time on Economy Mountain at the "Stagger Inn" with his friends, spending countless hours waiting for the perfect deer to appear.  More often than not, it did. Al lived a life of strength and resilience, and his wish would be for others to carry the torch for him to honor his legacy. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
