Timothy Andrew Mitchell

1959-2021

Timothy Andrew Mitchell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Timothy Andrew Mitchell, 61 of Coldbrook. On October 21, 2021, Timmy passed away peacefully at home after a long, hard but courageous battle with cancer. He was a son of the late George and Margaret (Swinamer) Mitchell.

In his younger years, you could usually find Tim at the Old Berwick Barn, where he played hockey in a rec league, often staying with the team till the wee hours of the night. He was always on the go, whether it be fishing, out for a walk in the woods, burning in the burn barrel, you name it. He loved the outdoors. He took great pride in keeping his yard looking pristine. In those years none of us ever had to worry about mowing the lawn, as he was very particular on how the grass cut lines looked, it to be just a certain way. Dad also had a love for the birds, hummingbirds mostly but clearly displayed a hatred for those menacing crows.

He never seemed to have much luck with some of the older cars he owned and was often found in the driveway making repairs to the best of his knowledge, you could hear him from a distance when things weren’t going so well. Luckily later in life he bought himself a new "off-the-lot-truck", and he was so very proud. Nate, Mariah and him traveled to many movies at the theatre in that truck. Which he may or may not have fallen asleep during one or two of those superhero films.

Tim played a big part in the union where he worked, early on at the old Larsen's plant and then at Eden Valley Poultry. He was headstrong, stubborn, outspoken at times and enjoyed the role he played in that group of people. In these past few years Dad spent a lot more time sitting outside and reading book after book about WWII and any other historical finds he could get his hands on,  which was a ton. He was a very loving father, husband, brother and grandfather. He was not selfish and put everyone's needs ahead of his own, you could always count on him, no matter what time of day it was, if he could help he did.

We are going to miss you Dad so very much and will try to remember "Not to sweat the small stuff". We love you forever and a day.

He cherished his family and will be missed by his loving wife Kathy; son Dennis; daughters Holly and Robyn; grandchildren, Jamie-lee, Nate and Mariah; family pet / companion Marty; dear sister, Margaret and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Gary, Jack, William and sisters, Deanna and Betty.

The family would like to thank the Cancer Treatment Society; VON and the Palliative Care Team. Memorial donations can be made to The Cancer Society. As per Tim’s wishes there will be no public service at this time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
