Helen Isabel Phillips
1935-2021
Helen Isabel Phillips, age 85, of Canning, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Blomidon, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Beatrice (Coffill) MacBride.
Helen was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked for many farms as a soil technician. She also worked for Scotian Gold, Canard Poultry and Avon Foods. She enjoyed quilting and her fur babies. Above all, she enjoyed caring for her family, which often included teasing and tormenting them.
Helen is survived by her children, Charlotte (James) Huntley, of Scotts Bay, Karen (Ivan) Fraser, of Sheffield Mills, Judy (Brian) Wells, of ON, Bruce Warner, of Canning, Elizabeth "Becky" (Wayne) Chaput, of ON, and Murray (Diane) MacBride, of Canning; stepdaughter, Rose Gates, of Fredericton, NB; sisters, Josephine Power, of Edmonton, AB and Freda (Harold) Sangster, of Habitant; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, three step-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Phillips; infant daughter, Lena; brothers, Andrew, in infancy and William "Mickey"; and sisters, Shirley O’Hara and Madeline Blois.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 25, 2021 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A private graveside service will be held in Jawbone Corner Cemetery, Upper Canard. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full Vaccination Policy, proof of full vaccination will be required to attend visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White Family Funeral Home. Donations in memory may be made to the Carey Me Fund (Supporting Palliative Care in the home). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
