Violet Lillian Louise Spencer

1930-2021

Violet Lillian Louise Spencer

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Violet Lillian Louise (Graves) Spencer, 91, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville on Friday, November 19, 2021. Born in Kentville on February 8, 1930, she was a daughter of the late George Sr. and Ruby (Weagle) Graves.

Lillian was a member of the Kentville Royal Canadian Legion Kings Branch No. 6 since 1985. She started working at the age of 14 for Canada Foods in Kentville. She married Harry Frederick Spencer in March of 1945 and was a stay at home mom with her children until returning to work at the age of 44 for Standard Paving. She enjoyed bingo and cherished her family dearly. She always had a cup of tea or coffee for you as soon as you came through the door, often always keeping at least eight cans of coffee on hand.

Lillian will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Rose McNeily and Christine (Roscoe) Parker, both of Windsor, ON, Deborah Valianatos, of Florida and Pamela (Terry) Dill, of Kentville; three sons, Edward (Nancy), of Waterville, Steven Spencer and Rick (Liz) Spencer, both of Kentville; daughter-in-law, Cindy Spencer, of Kentville; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Stevenson (Joe Benjamin), of Kentville and Linda MacKenzie, of Mississauga, ON; brother, George Jr. (Darlene), of Centreville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry Fredrick "Buncie" Spencer Sr.; sons, Harry "Bunker" Jr. and James; daughter, Patricia; grandson, Richard "Rick" Spencer; great grandson, Brandon Fuller (Dill); sisters, Beatrice Cath and Alice Clare; brother, Wayne Graves.

A special thanks of appreciation to Dr. Jim Seaman, Dr. Matthew Targett and the nurses and staff of Evergreen Home for the exceptional care and compassion given to our mother and to us.
