Eileen Myrtle Neaves

1933-2021

Eileen Myrtle Neaves

Eileen Myrtle Neaves – age 87, of Kentville, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 in Shannex, Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in Gaspereau on December 31, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Milford and Clarice (Croft) Walsh. Mom will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her acceptance of anyone she met. No matter who you were, Mom welcomed you into her home with a buffet sized meal and the utmost kindness. Eileen may be remembered as the friendly face behind the counter at the Dairy Queen in New Minas, where she was employed for many years. She adored her summers spent at Medford Beach and the friendships she established there. Gregarious by nature, Mom had a love of music and dancing. Her fun loving and empathetic personality set her apart from the rest, and when she was in storytelling mode you often needed tissues for the extreme laughter that followed. Mom’s happiness came from taking care of others; from her husband, Clair, to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mom’s warmth and nurturing were unwavering. We will remember Mom for her unconditional support, selflessness, and the best home cooking you could ask for. We love you. She is survived by daughter, Susan Neaves, Coldbrook; sons, Bryan (Ruth), Antigonish; Mike (Michelle), Bridgewater; grandchildren, Devon, Ryan, Kyle, Andrea, Adrian, and Aaron; great grandchildren, Ethan, Josée, Ella and Bo; sister, Lorraine Vaughan, Halifax; nephew, Craig Walsh (Kathy Crossland), Coldbrook. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in 2010, Clair; sister, Gladys Walsh and infant sister, Pauline; and brother, Russell. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County.
