Joyce "Glenna" Coleman

Joyce "Glenna" Coleman – age 89, formerly of Steam Mill, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 in Grand View Manor, Berwick after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born in Carleton Village, Shelburne Co., she was a daughter of the late George "Harlyn" and Mae Hamilton.

Prior to raising her family, Glenna was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse in Shelburne County, and worked for Gilbert Allen Strawberry Plant. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed music, baking and cooking.

Glenna will be deeply missed by her sons, Danny (Kathy) Oikle, Kingston; Charles Oikle, Coldbrook; and Blair (Lise) Oikle, Cornwall, ON; daughters, April Bezanson, Berwick; and Crystal Cogswell, Weston; brothers, Warren Hamilton, Grand View Manor; Phillip and Ronald (Barbara) Hamilton, both of Birchtown; sisters, Louise Anderson, Cape Sable Island; Janis Hansler, Ontario; Carolyn (Steve) Acker, Jordan Bay; and Beverley (Terry) Demings, Birchtown; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Coleman; daughter-in-law, Kathy Oikle; brother, Victor; sisters, Oneita Keddy and Violet Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Alan Anderson and Harold Hansler; sisters-in-law, Minnie, Helen and Mary Hamilton.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks of appreciation to the staff of Grand View Manor for the kindness and care given to Glenna.

There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Reverend Sarah Scott officiating. For those unable to attend, there will be a video webcast of the service at that time. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Grand View Manor or the ALS Society of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
