Geneva Kay Long

1939-2022

Geneva Kay Long

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Geneva Kay Long, 83, on Sunday, May 22, 2022 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

She was the beloved wife of Phillip; mother to Phil (Sue), Michelle; doting grandmother to Gemma and mother-in-law to Lee Coley.

Geneva was born in Wolfville on May 10, 1939 to the late Colin and Marion (Jordan) Atwell. She was raised on Melanson Mountain and in Wolfville.

She spent time working in various floral and sewing retail establishments in the Valley. She had a great love for travel and instilled that in her children, being able to share many adventures to far flung parts of the world. She was a kind, caring person who always put other's needs first. Her pride and joy was her family, always there to lend a helping hand, and a word of encouragement. She believed anytime shared with family was time well spent. A life well lived.

She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Phillip; her son, Phil Jr. (Sue); daughter, Michelle and "favourite granddaughter" Gemma; sisters, Joyce Nowlan (Karl), June Morine, Sharon Walsh (Doug), Sandy Atwell¬-Tennyson (Brian), and Theresa Edwards (Robert); many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters, Josephine Colson and Colleen Hovell.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jim Seaman, Dr. Mike Kehoe and the staff at the Valley Regional Hospital.

There will be no visitation or funeral service as per Geneva’s wishes. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Arthritis Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
