Matilda Annie "Tilly" Coyne

Matilda Annie "Tilly" Coyne – 81, of South Berwick, passed away at her home on Monday, May 23, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Anthony Wellwood and Vera (Coleman) (Wellwood) Coughlin and stepdaughter of the late Daniel "Mickie" Coughlin.

Tilly worked as a personal care worker for many years. She also worked at the BFM Hospital and NS Sanitorium. She loved caring for others and for her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds, butterflies and dragonflies. She was quick witted, had an insatiable laugh and was a "true Wellwood" through and through. She especially enjoyed a good cup of tea and spending time with her family and friends.

Tilly will be deeply missed by her daughter, Vera Hiltz, of South Berwick; sons, Arnold Coyne (Tanya Allen), of Windsor; Bruce Coyne (Sheri Hiltz), of Kentville; and Mark (Anita) Coyne, of Windermere; brothers, Bill (Ethel) Wellwood, of Hoyt, NB and Robert (Rose) Wellwood, of Lakeville; sisters, Patricia Whiting, of Toronto, ON and Faye Young, of Berwick; grandchildren, Mark Anthony, Kerrie, Sarah, Daniel, John, Nicole, Justin, Colleen, Michelle, Tylor, Stephanie and Toni; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Richard Coyne; brother, Marshall (Helen) Wellwood; and sisters, Caroline, Prudence and Juanita.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Windermere Community Hall, Windermere, Kings Co. A private interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.
