Mariann Grace MacKenzie

Mariann Grace MacKenzie – 85, of Canning, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in Valley Hospice, Kentville, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Vera (Dorey) Parker.

Mariann worked with her husband, Donald, in operating their family business, Don MacKenzie’s Carpets. She was a trained certified nursing assistant and worked at this in her earlier years. She later went on to work as a volunteer in the Valley Regional Hospital Gift Shop for 20 years and was a 20-year member of the Canning Lionettes. She enjoyed knitting and donating her work to various charities.

Mariann is survived by her children, Carolyn Morton-Busk (David Busk) of White’s Lake, David (Carol) Morton of Habitant and Stephen Morton of Pereaux; stepchildren, Sherry (David) MacKenzie-Jennison of Canaan and Donald "Kirk" MacKenzie (Bonnie Daye) of Shubenacadie; daughter-in-law, Cathy MacKenzie; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, J. Donald MacKenzie; son, Tom Morton; stepson, Robert "Bruce" MacKenzie; daughter-in-law, Rita Cyprien; partner, David Stewart; and brother, Gerald Parker.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. For those unable to attend, there will be a video webcast available at the time of the service. Interment will take place in Hillaton Cemetery, Hillaton.

Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Valley Hospice Foundation or a charity of choice.
