Bonita Louise "Bonnie" Corkum

Bonita Louise "Bonnie" Corkum – 65, of Lower Sackville, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, V.G. Site, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wolfville, she was daughter to the late Laurie and Verna (Tupper) Schofield.

Anybody who knew Bonnie knew that she would do anything for anyone and always put the needs of others before her own. Bonnie was a bright light not only to those that were blessed enough to have entered her circle, but also to countless people who she helped despite having never met them. She was a founding member of Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, and a proud supporter of Hope For Wildlife. She had a great sense of humour and loved music and singing. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and loved animals of all sizes. Above all else, she was fiercely loyal. Family meant everything to her. She loved her husband immensely; her two boys were her pride and joy and her granddaughter, Quinn, quickly became the center of her universe. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Allison; sons, Steven (Jen) and David (Laura); brothers, Clayton and Bruce (Shelly); sister, Jeannie (Jamie); sister-in-law, Wendy, and granddaughter, Quinn. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was predeceased by her brother Calvin.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in the Baxter’s Harbour Cemetery, Baxter’s Harbour. Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. A reception will be held across the street at the Baxter’s Harbour Community Hall immediately following the service. Donations in memory may be made to the Sunshine Room - Centennial Building QEll Health Sciences Centre.
