Harold Bertram "Hal" Walker

WALKER, Harold Bertram "Hal", a long-time resident of Kentville passed away on August 9, 2022 at his recent residence, Parkstone Enhanced Care in Halifax. Born February 9, 1927 in Halifax to Ernest "Eric" Walker and Stella M. Cox, Hal moved his family to Kentville in 1962 and worked for many years at Valley Stationers before starting his own very successful business, Walker Office Equipment. Hal was a long-time member of the Gyro, Probus and Kentville Curling clubs. He was an avid hockey fan and attended minor hockey and KCA games for many years. After retirement he enjoyed travelling, as well as the companionship of friends on the golf course. Hal had a lifetime passion for music, particularly that of the Big Band era. He had a vast knowledge of these orchestras, especially as they related to the war years and took part in radio interviews on this subject. He could later be found spinning records at Riverside Court. Hal was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Marion A. MacLeod; his brother and only sibling, Kenneth Walker; nephew Gerard Walker and niece Joanne MacLeod. He leaves his daughter Judy (Gerard) Callaghan, son Wayne (Joanne), granddaughter Kate Walker, grandson Christopher Walker, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family is thankful for Hal’s many kind friends, especially the late Betty Pettet. Hal will always be remembered for his creativeness, humour, kindness and being a true gentleman. Special thanks to the staff of Kings Riverside Court, Kentville and Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
