Ardythe Elaine Bond

1942-2022

Ardythe Elaine Bond

It is with great sadness and relief that the family of Ardythe Elaine Bond announce her passing on August 14, 2022. Ardythe’s battle with dementia came to an end more than a decade after her diagnosis. Born in Amherst on September 14, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Hilda (Margeson) and Edgar Reece of Centreville.

Ardythe will be remembered mostly for her love of her family. Survived by her two sons, David and Robert, and her husband of more than sixty years, Charles "Bob". They were the love of each other’s lives and cared for each other until the very end, with Bob being her sole care provider until she took residence at Shannex Orchard Court.

A dedicated homemaker and mother, Ardythe raised her boys, supporting them through their school years, making sure that they were able to participate in extracurricular activities. Often that meant a bedtime search of the neighbourhood along with all the kids on the street. In the 70’s and early 80’s Ardythe worked for a time with the Kings County Amalgamated School Board at the Teachers Resource Centre in New Minas.

In addition to her professional career, she and Bob built many homes "together". Spending countless hours, nights and weekends sanding, painting, designing and landscaping their homes. Something that gave them great pleasure and strengthened their relationship that would last her lifetime.

Ardythe also enjoyed those family gatherings with her brothers and sisters where inevitability laughter and good-natured teasing would turn into song. These were also the occasions to make of nieces and nephews whom she always expressed her affection for, often with a mischievous wink and the chance to sneak a kiss on the cheek.

During her life, Ardythe was a Momma to her "Fur Babies". Mother to Ruffles and Sophie, she had a special fondness for her Pomeranian Puppers, Muffin, Pebbles, Lacey and Teddy.

In addition to her pets, she was also known for being a foster mother to injured birds and small animals. It wasn’t uncommon to have people in the neighbourhood drop one or two off for her to rehabilitate. She so loved to visit Oaklawn Farm Zoo where she would often call to the little creatures encouraging them to "Come to Momma".

Also left to mourn are her siblings, Donald (Avril), Leslie, Jeanette Sawler, Carolyn Smith, Sandra (Robert) Ells, and Deborah Muis; and grandchildren, Keegan, Michael, Allan and Sarah. In addition to her parents, Ardythe is predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Glen Sawler, Eric Smith and Albert Muis; and sister-in-law, Marie Reece.

A special thank you goes out to all of the Staff and Management at Shannex Orchard Court for the exceptional care, attention and genuine Love she had been given.
