Gladys Mae Hobson

Gladys Mae Hobson – age 87, of Berwick, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Gladys (Andrews) Hutt. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Gladys worked as a ward clerk at the Dartmouth General, Blanchard Fraser Memorial and Valley Regional Hospitals. She was a member of Anglican Church Women and the Order of the Eastern Star as well as a survivor of the Bedford Magazine Explosion in 1945.

She is survived by daughter, Tracey Hobson, Kamloops; sons, Michael (Diann), Dartmouth; Steven (Carolyn), Oakfield; Barry (Laura Evans), Kamloops; David (Connie), Coldbrook; 10 grandchildren, Janet, Lorraine, Lindsay, Robert, Maggie, Shanon, Jacob, Miranda, Jessica, and Tamara; 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 64 years in 2017, David; as well as her siblings, Ruth (Norm) Robinson; Shirley Hobson (Johnny) and Harris Hutt (Mary).

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 in the St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, Reverend Shirley Cole officiating. For those unable to attend the service, a webcast of the service will be available at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Burial will take place in the Garden of Rest Cemetery, Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Grand View Manor.
