Lori Ann Best

1984-2022

It is with broken hearts that the family of Lori Ann (Wrye) Best announces her passing on September 21, 2022, at the Victoria General Hospital Centennial Building, with her family at her side. Born on August 29, 1984 in Kentville, Nova Scotia, she was the youngest daughter of Robert Alan Wrye and the late Janet Elizabeth (Leaman) Wrye. She is survived by her husband of 13 years Adam Best; two wonderful daughters Claire and Eleanor; and sister, Kathy (Carlos). She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth. She also leaves behind her loving in-laws Michael, Cathy and Melissa Best and niece and nephews, Ben, Tessa and Aiden. She also leaves behind many close friends from across the country.

Growing up, Lori was very active in sport and had a passion for figure skating, downhill skiing and volleyball. She met the love of her life, Adam, at a volleyball camp in high school and they have shared their lives together ever since. Lori worked hard in school, achieving a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Earth Sciences and Oceanography from Dalhousie University. She continued her education, earning her Master of Science at Queen’s University in 2009. Moving to Alberta shortly after graduation, Lori quickly became accustomed to the western lifestyle, working and enjoying her time at a local western wear store in Rocky Mountain House. Being the strong and independent woman she was, Lori started her own consulting company and had much success in the oilfield as a well-site geologist. In 2013, to spend more time with family, Lori transitioned to a career in the insurance industry and in early 2022 achieved her Canadian Accredited Insurance Brokers designation with Honours.

Lori loved to read and passed this fondness of books onto her children, who often curl up with their favorite stories. Family birthdays were always an exciting time, as Lori would show her love of cake baking through imaginative and creative cake designs. Lori faced her many health challenges over the years with optimism, strength, and grace; she is an inspiration to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks. Donations may be made in her memory to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or to St. John’s Anglican Church (Wolfville). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
