Murray Augustine Power – age 92, of New Minas, NS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kingston, NS, on May 28, 1930, he was a son of the late Murray Albro Power and Veronica Agatha (Connor) Power.

Murray grew up on the family farm in Kingston, NS and would follow his passion for the automotive industry and pursue technical training in Halifax. He owned and operated full-service gas stations in Kentville for many years, he was supported by his beloved wife of 69 years and together raised their family in New Minas. He was a member of the Freemasons Lodge No. 58 Kentville, a long-time attendee of the Pereaux Baptist Church, and a founding member of the Kentville Kinsman Club. Murray had a sharp mind and was a great source of local history, and a lifelong interest in both the local agriculture and forestry industry. Murray enjoyed spending time with both friends and family, and he will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his sons, David (Mary Lou) Power, Pereaux; Brian (Sharon) Power, Kentville; Kenneth Power, New Minas; granddaughters, Alison (Fenwick) Jeffrey, Quispamsis, NB; Katherine (Chris) Power, Moncton, NB; Andrea (Troy) Power, Halifax; grandson, Jason (Emily) Power, Bedford; great-grandchildren William and Violet Jeffrey, Quispamsis, NB and many nieces and nephews in the United States.

He was predeceased by wife, Marion Power; sisters, Anna-Ruth Smith and Margaret Delaney; brother-in-law, Edward Delaney; sister-in-law, Harriett Thorpe; brother-in-law, Emerson Thorpe.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service and interment will be held in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., the Rev. Dr. Mark Parent and Rev. Brian Keezer will be officiating. For those unable to attend a video webcast of the service will be available on Monday, October 3, 2022. Donations in memory can be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, the VON Annapolis Valley or a charity of your choosing. The family wishes to extend special thanks to son, Kenneth, for his dedicated care of his father allowing him to remain at home, and a special thanks to the VON Annapolis Valley for their care of Murray.
