Leona Lula May Mollis

1942-2022

Leona Lula May Mollis

Leona Lula May Mollis – 80, of Kentville, passed away in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Rex and Jean (Reid) Chappell.

Leona was a woman of many talents, from sewing, baking and ceramics to leatherworking. She was prepared to take on any challenge from sewing a medieval outfit (without a pattern) for her daughter, Tamara, to making a scratching post for her cat. She loved to read, watching cooking shows, and shopping. She used to say, "I can resist anything but a bargain."

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was known for freely sharing her uplifting stories of Divine Intervention in her life. She also shared lessons learned while working as a nurse at a women’s correctional centre in Ontario. Some of her favourite church assignments were catering large dinners for missionary conferences, doing compassionate service and teaching girls ages 8 to 11. We were all inspired by her strength and faith in her Saviour as she quietly endured the passing of her beloved only child, as well as her severe health challenges.

In addition to her parents and daughter, Leona was predeceased by an infant sister, Ileen.

She is survived by her sisters, Louise (Frank) Stiles of Truro, Joyce (Paul) Greene of Fredericton, NB, and Ruby (James) MacKenzie of Kentville; son-in-law, Scott Musgrave of Dartmouth; cherished friend, Ardith Spinney; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kentville. Interment will take place in Amherst Cemetery, Amherst, at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
