Douglas Paul "Doug" Wilson

Douglas Paul "Doug" Wilson – 69, passed away on November 11, 2022 in the VG Hospital, ICU, Halifax at 9:44 p.m. Born on January 13, 1953 at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville, he was the youngest son of the late Robie and Joyce (Adams) Wilson of Steam Mill. He graduated from Kings Regional Vocation School – Automotive Repair and Body in 1971. Doug was employed with Maple Leaf Poultry, Canard for 28 years (1979-2007). Previously with Scotian Gold and Hostess Foods (1973). Doug was one of the founding members of the band, Scattered Country, which over the years became Country Heat. He played drums for 48 years with the band playing dances at the legions, fire halls and community centers, from Truro to Yarmouth and more benefits than can be counted. He loved playing with his grandchildren and 15-month-old great granddaughter, going fishing with his three sons and rebuilding and painting old cars. Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was predeceased by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, his older brother, Gary, brother-in-law, Darrell, and his niece, Melody. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Debbie (Brown) Wilson; sons, Doug Jr. "DJ" (Tanya), New Minas; Devon (Alana), Aldershot; David (Keira), South Alton; daughter, Zoe (Quentin) Hardy, Middle Sackville; sisters, Wanda LeBlanc, Yarmouth; Judy Pudsey, Grand Prairie, AB; sisters-in-law, Lola Wilson, South Alton; Tabatha McMullen, Aldershot. He will be desperately missed by grandchildren, Jadin, Nataya, Cyrus, Cassie, Patrick, Bowen, Gemma, little Seren, John, Nicholas and 15-moth-old great granddaughter, Nari; several nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Canada or a charity of one’s choice.
