Sandra Marie "Sandy" Johnson

1942-2022

Sandra Marie "Sandy" Johnson

Sandra Marie "Sandy" Johnson – age 80, of Coldbrook, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2022 in the Valley Regional Hospital surrounded by close loved ones. Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Beatrice (Slaunwhite) Whynot.

She had a kind, unconditionally loving soul who touched the hearts of whomever she met. You were always welcomed with open arms. You never went home hungry when you came to visit, and she always offered you a cup of tea. She was proud of her South Shore roots, with a great sense of humour that would have you blindsided with her witty response that always made you break up with laughter. One of her funny lines was "A fart is the message to let you know the package is on its way."

For most of her married life she was a homemaker, loved and nurtured her three children and two grandchildren, as well as providing childcare and love to many other children that she felt were like her own. She also enjoyed her time volunteering with St. John Ambulance many years ago. During her working career outside of the home, she was employed at the Official Glove Co., M. W. Graves and Sun Valley Cranberry Bog. She had a love for sewing, upholstery projects, dancing, cooking, baking, doing hair for family and friends and daily teatime with her best friend, Barb for the past 49 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Arnold "Arnie"; son, Blaine, Halifax; daughter, Ladine Moody (JD), Coldbrook; grandchildren, Marya and Madeline Moody; brothers, Norman, Caledonia, Paul (Shirley), Liverpool, and Carl (Tina), Bridgewater; sisters-in-law, Jessie Whynot, Milton and Betty Whynot, Milton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by son, Ricky; brothers, James "Brody", Lawrence, Stanley, Johnny, and a brother in infancy; sisters, Maria (Myron) White, Carrie (Charlie) Oickle; and sister-in-law, Hazel Whynot.
