Wayne Lester Horton

Wayne Lester Horton passed away peacefully in his home at Northwood Manor, Halifax, NS on Thursday, November 17, 2022, with his girls by his side.

He was a handyman and was always ready to drop what he was doing to help his Brotherhood: Allan, Arnie, Huck, Troy, Malcolm, Brian, and Rick, to name just a few.  The family thanks you for your everlasting support and friendship.

He was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia on June 26, 1947, to Ivey and Lester Horton. They brought him home to meet his Irish twin, Elaine and years followed with two more sisters, Eileen and Carol.  Elaine’s marriage to Allan, gave him the brother he always wished for.  They all grew up in Port Williams, where he maintained many lifelong friends. He spent his entire work life at ACA Poultry where he met his beautiful wife and first daughter. He married Virginia Ruth Irving (predeceased) in June 1973 with Kimberly (predeceased) by their side. Shortly after, Melinda/Mindy was born (Ben), and while they were still wishing for a baby boy, along came Janis (Jyson) to complete his family.

He is survived by his pride and joy his two girls and four beautiful grandchildren, Max, Charlotte, Avery and Connor.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2022, in the Baxter’s Harbour Community Church, Baxter’s Harbour, NS. Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast of the service will be available on-line by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26. Interment will take place in Baxter’s Harbour Cemetery immediately following the service. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
