C. Marie (Fortune) Wilson

Our world is a little sadder today and the sun not so bright.

C. Marie (Fortune) Wilson – age 71, passed away peacefully, with twin sister, Mary by her side on December 3, 2022 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Marie was predeceased by her mother, Mary (McKinnon) Fortune and father, Joseph Myles Fortune (New Waterford, Cape Breton); nephews, James and Cordell MacLellan; and special gram, Alice Wilson (Falmouth). Marie will be greatly missed by her children, Cynthia D. (Ian) Duey, Kimberly R. (Mark) Fisher, Christopher C. (Beth) Wilson. She is also survived by the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Alice, Charlotte, Sawyer, Hayden and Myles. Marie will also be greatly missed by her twin sister, Mary Fortune Misner, Kentville; sister, Judy Fortune Myer, Kentville; brothers, J. Adrian Fortune, New Minas; and James MacLellan, Sudbury, ON; as well as her niece and nephew, Shauna and Doug Misner. Anyone who knew "Ria" knew her greatest joy was caring for people whether through her nursing career at Hants Community and Valley Regional Hospitals and personal care, not to mention taking care of the people she loved the most, her family. Marie was always the life of the party, she lived for quality time with her children and grandchildren as well as road trips with her siblings. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses in Emergency and Medical Unit A of Valley Regional Hospital, and special gratitude to Marie’s personal care physician, Dr. Barb Ross. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available at the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lung Association and Christmas Daddies.
