Robert Gordon "Bob" Spicer
1950-2022
Robert Gordon "Bob" Spicer – age 72, of Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wolfville, he was the only son of the late Robert Sr. and Hope (Forsythe) Spicer.
Bob was a truck driver since he was 19. He started work with Neely’s, then Boyd’s and retired from Thomson’s Transport after 30 years of service. He grew up on his family farm and was a hard worker since he was a young boy. He raised and cared for a herd of 32 cattle and helped with all the everyday aspects of farm life. Prior to his declining health, he was an active member of Coldbrook Baptist Church and the Coldbrook community. Bob was always happiest when outside. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, and later in life he was an avid fisherman, and looked forward to going to their lake in Bridgewater. He was one-of-a-kind, prioritizing his family over everything else. You could often find him in the kitchen cooking or doing dishes, or spending time with his cherished wife, daughter and son-in-law and precious grandchildren.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Judy (Taylor); and daughter, Theresa Lavaughn (Donald Steven) Retfalvi. He was the best Buggie to his grandchildren and the lights of his life, Dylan Gordon Retfalvi and Chantel Hope Retfalvi (J.P. D’Alessio-Doucet). He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Margaret Taylor; and sisters, Maryann and Elizabeth; as well as extended family and many close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Angela Bronwyn; father-in-law, Edward Taylor; and sisters, Lillian, Alice and Ruby.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Bob’s wishes there will be no visitation.
