Geoffrey Ardern
1946-2023

Geoffrey Ardern, our favourite Expat, passed away on January 4th, 2023. He was born in Stockport, UK, in 1946 to George Ardern and his beloved Mum, May. Geoff is survived by his brother Phil; his ‘wards' Stephen and Tim Downs; his goddaughter Jessica Potts; and an army of friends from ‘across the pond’ and here in Canada who fondly remember him for his wit and individuality. Geoff moved to Canada in 1969 to further what became a very successful career in electrical engineering. Throughout his life, he was always looking for opportunities to bring together friends and family from both the UK and Nova Scotia, speared on by his love of sailing and skiing, and the great joy he took in good company. The 'Demon Winger’s' youthful love of ‘football' followed him to Canada, where he both played and coached. Geoff enjoyed sailing at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and boating on Prospect Bay with friends and family - the scene of many a cruise and general hijinks. Children of Geoff’s close friends also enjoyed his support and love and remember the indelible impact he had on their lives through his kindness and generosity. A special thanks must go to his very kind neighbours and friends, Brian McGrath and Sandra MacDonald. Cremation has taken place. At a later day, friends and family will gather to celebrate his life. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
