Avery Vernon Eldred Vaughan
1937-2023


Avery Vernon Eldred Vaughan – 85, lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Greenwich, he was the eldest son of the late Vernon and Jennie (Parsons) Vaughan.
Prior to retirement, Avery drove a milk truck and ice cream truck for several years before starting his own novelty and trucking business. He was a people person and loved his time at Tim Hortons. He was a true family man and enjoyed camping with his children and spent many years travelling to Florida with his wife, Margaret. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and was a member of the Greenwich Fire Department and played hockey with the Greenwich Flyers. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Avery is survived by his two daughters, Lynda (Mike) Carter and Angel Pulsifer; son, Danny (Mary) Vaughan; special friend, Juanita Huntley; sister, Marilyn Coleman; brothers, Bob (Grace), Wayne (Sherry), Terry (Pat), Ricky (Tina) and Bruce (Kerri); aunt, Barb Sherman; brother-in-law, Errol Zwicker; sisters-in-law, Carolyn, JoAnne, Marion and Deborah Vaughan; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley), Natasha (Nick), Melynda, Molly (Jamie), Devin (Heather) and Katelyn (Josh); great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Aspen, Eloise, Alexander and Charlotte; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Weaver); son-in-law, Stephen Pulsifer; brothers, Cyril, Larry, Lester and Randy; sisters, Vivian (Raymond) Morin, Bev Zwicker and Sharon Thorpe (Garth Croft); and brother-in-law, Kenneth Coleman.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Valley Regional Hospital Emergency Department for the excellent care they provided to Avery.
There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by a reception. Reverend Virginia DeAdder officiating. Masks are required. Family interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available at the time of the service. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation.
