Donald James Walker, CPO2, RCN

Walker, Donald James, CPO2, Royal Canadian Navy passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home in New Ross on January 8, 2023. Donnie was born in New Ross on June 5, 1942 to his parents, Errol and Bonah (Chandler) Walker. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Sally (Parsons) Walker; sister, Eleanor; step-granddaughter, Brooklynn; and nieces, Tracy and Tammy.
Donnie is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda; his much-loved children and stepchildren, Danny (Carolyn) Walker, Carstairs, AB; Barbie (Brian), New Ross; Dion (Shannon) Young, Kingston; Lindsay (Nate) Zwicker, Camrose, AB; his adored grandchild and step-grandchildren, Brooke, Austin, Dylan, Afifa, Ryder, Josh and Callie.

Donnie was very proud of his long military career and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer Second Class. He and Sally raised their children whilst being posted to many different military bases all over Canada and the USA. He loved the Navy, especially his time in the Comm Research Branch. He retired after more than 30 years and moved back to the place he loved most in the world – New Ross.

A funeral service for family and close friends will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4828 Highway 12, New Ross. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Hope for Wildlife, 5909 Highway 207, Seaforth, NS B0J 2L0 (902-407-9453).
