Marlene Lillian Sawler

It is with great sadness that the family of Marlene Lillian Sawler announces her sudden passing on January 21, 2023, in the Victoria General Hospital after a brief and intense battle with cancer. Born February 4, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Beatrice Schofield.

Marlene was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville for many years and enjoyed spending her time participating in activities such as darts and bingo at the Meadowview Community Hall. Marlene was formerly employed at Great Valley Juices and Mic-Mac Poultry, she spent her later years caring for her family and relishing in time spent with all her grandchildren. Marlene was an avid knitter who spent countless hours making keepsakes that her family will forever cherish. Marlene was quick to lend a hand, a shoulder to cry on or give advice. She was admired for her honesty and never thought twice about calling a spade a spade. She was an incredible matriarch, leading her family through the ups and downs of life.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Frederick Sawler; daughters, Robyn, Amanda (Darren), both of Kentville; son in-law, Scott, grandchildren, Nick, Courtney (Nick), Mackenzie (Caleb), Korey, Hunter and Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Leah; step great-grandchildren, Caden and Jordan; brothers; Bruce (Helen) of Cambridge, Doug, Glenn (Wendy) and Donnie all of Kentville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Rodney; daughter, Stephanie and granddaughter, Thea.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available at that time.

Donations in memory may be made to charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
