Garnet McLennan Ells

It is with great sadness the family of Garnet McLennan Ells, age 67, of New Minas, announce his unexpected passing at home on January 5, 2023. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Jessie (Wallace) Ells of Kentville and the late Frank Ells.

Garnet loved listening to music, enjoyed dancing, and had a great sense of humor. He especially loved historical war movies and could tell you all about the history behind the planes, ships, and submarines.

He traveled to many places during his years working as a chef for the Coast Guard, and traveled all over Alberta and British Columbia while working in the coal mines, driving across Canada and through the States many times on his visits home.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Jamie; sisters, Crystal and Tina; sister-in-law, Carolyn; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Terry Ells.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Garnet’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
