Gloria Jean Rafuse
Gloria Jean Rafuse – age 73, of Canning, passed away peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
Born in Wolfville from a big family of 12, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Harriette "Hattie" (Davidson) Harris of Greenfield.
Gloria loved to cook and entertain. She was the social convener at her home church Valley Corner Stone Assembly, Canning, for many years and would help cater to weddings and other events with her late sister, Hazel, by her side. Gloria also loved music, playing her guitar and singing in church. She was a member of her late brother, David’s, blue grass group, Mudd Creek. Gloria also liked playing at the fun night jams at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville.
She is survived by her loving husband, Orrin Rafuse, Canning; children, Penny Hudson, Kentville; Billie Jo (Ricky) McFetridge, Center Burlington, Melinda (Vaughan) Stoddart, Kentville; grandchildren, Ashley, Kandice, Cody, Jessica, Terrence; step-grandson, Evan; great grandchildren, Samuel, Keara, Liam, Layne and Caleb and step-great grandson, Noah; sister, Pauline Atwell, Wolfville; brothers, Harlen (Connie) and Hartley, both of New Minas; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by grandson, Shawn Hickey; sisters, Marguerite Jordan, Hazel Corbett and Marjorie LeBlanc; brothers, Lovett, Elwin, Waldo, David and Wesley Jr.
There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 in Kingsway Assembly, Kentville. A private burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall at Kingsway Assembly following the interment. Donations in memory may be made to Oasis Community Church, Windsor or charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
