Owen Rick Reynolds

Owen Rick Reynolds, age 14, passed away peacefully with his gramma and grampa, Suzanne and Roger Sevigny by his side on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in Halifax Hospice, Halifax. Born in the Grace Maternity Hospital, Halifax, he was a son of Connie Reynolds and the chosen son of Roger and Suzanne Sevigny. Owen lived most of his life in Coldbrook, moving to Evergreen Home for Special Care, Children’s Unit, Kentville in February of 2022. Since December 3, he had been at the IWK PICU, and transferred to Halifax Hospice on January 27.

Owen lived his life to the fullest. He was diagnosed at birth with Chromosome disorder (22Q11) Cerebral Palsy and with determination and strength, he was able to find joy in the precious everyday moments. Owen attended Coldbrook and District School where he was well known as a special friend to the students and staff. He travelled to Florida with Suzanne and Roger many times and even had a few trips to Disney World. He loved swimming, balloons, his stuffed animals, and being with friends and family. He was kind, gentle and had the sweetest smile and a contagious laugh. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his mother and Suzanne and Roger, Owen is survived by his sister, Jasmine Reynolds and brother, Broderick Reynolds; and his chosen family, Paul, Christine, William, Joy, Davidee, Kimmie and Cynthia; as well as many teachers, special needs assistants, social workers and friends.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers of the IWK Children’s Hospital and Halifax Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort that Owen received. You are truly angels on earth.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A celebration of Owen’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by a reception. Donations in memory may be made to the Rotary Foundation (Canada), IWK Children’s Hospital or the Halifax Hospice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
