Milton Grant Hiltz

1928-2023

Milton Grant Hiltz

Milton Grant Hiltz – 94, of the Forties, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at home. Born in the Forties on December 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Douglas and Elizabeth (Turner) Hiltz.

Milton started working as a young man at his grandfather’s mill. Being a jack of all trades, he went onto work with a surveying crew, as a carpenter, and mail driver, as well as for the Department of Highways, and Kirk Company Tree Yard. He loved the outdoors and raising animals. He had a small herd of cattle, a horse, dog, and cats that were always well loved and cared for. He enjoyed camping at Fox Mountain Camping Park and going to the fairs. He would travel all over the province to see the horse and oxen pulls. His witty humour and deep love for his family and community will be dearly missed.

Milton is survived by his wife, Joyce (Hiltz) Hiltz; children, Cynthia (Craig) Turner; and Byron "Bubba" Hiltz (Cyndee); sister, Gail Davis; brother, Darrell (Linda) Hiltz; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Sasha) and Kelsey (Max); step-grandson, Rodrick (Katie); as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister in infancy; his brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Fern Hiltz; brother-in-law, Gerald Davis; niece, Elizabeth Davis and nephew, Nicholas Hiltz.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks of appreciation to Milton’s doctors, nurses and the staff at Valley Regional Hospital, as well as to the VON and Homecare teams for the excellent care and compassion that was provided.
