Mable Laura Schofield

Mable Laura Schofield – age 74, of New Minas, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at home.

Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Mary "Viola" (Johnson) Anderson.

Mable worked for a short time at MT&T before working for 29 years at Ripley’s Shoe Store and then 17 years at the Atlantic Superstore. She was a member of Bethany Memorial Baptist Church. Mable sat on the Deacon’s Board, was an active choir member and Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent.

She will be missed by her husband, John; sister, Mary (Kenneth "Kipp") MacKenzie; brother, Lesley Anderson; niece, Amanda Wallace (Jason Short); nephew, Matthew Wallace and extended family members and friends. Mable will also be missed by her beloved Shih Tzu, Izzy.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant brother, Henry.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville with a graveside service at 4:00 p.m. in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast of the service will be available at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023. A potluck gathering in Mable’s memory will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in the New Minas Volunteer Fire Department. All are welcome and anyone wishing to bring food is invited to do so. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA – Kings Shelter or Hope for Wildlife.
