Hazel Cecilia Hanley

1935-2023

Hazel Cecilia Hanley

Hazel Cecilia (Doucette) Hanley, of Middleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Graceview Senior’s Residence, Middleton in her 89th year. Born on January 10, 1935 in Mavilette, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Adele (Comeau) Doucette.

Hazel was tough as nails and soft as silk. She loved good music and singing. She was a sun worshiper and enjoyed travelling with family and friends. Her favourite saying when travelling was "there’s nothing there", if it was a place that she had no interest in. She had a great sense of humour, was very funny and never a party pooper. When her children were little, she went above and beyond to make Christmas magical. She was proud of her heritage and never turned down a Rappie pie. She loved fiercely and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Hazel was the loving mother of Adele (Bill) McDonald, Viewmount; Roy (Wendy), London, ON; Scott (Diane), Indian Island, NB; Dean (Stephanie), London, ON and Kelly (Julia) Hanley, Woodstock, ON; and sister of Raymond (Rose), Lower Sackville and Harold (Benita) Doucette, Halifax. She was adored by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Pothier; and niece, Hazel Fleming.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Hazel’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Parkinson Canada. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
